Together for Better is a foundation with a strong heritage in advocating for the rights of vulnerable women in marginalized communities in Kenya.
Our inspiration comes from the years of volunteer work devoted by our founder within the Maasai community.
Having witnessed the challenges faced by young girls and women when it comes to Menstrual Health management, our role is to provide adequate information and education; while offering sustainable solutions to empower them to live better lives and offer more social and economic opportunities to break the poverty cycle.
Our flagship solution towards a sustainable approach to menstrual health management. Throughout the manufacture of these reusable pads, meaningful employment is provided throughout with over 50 tailors available when demand grows.
Our reusable pads are designed to be super absorbent, reduce leakage and offer better protection and comfort for up to 2 years or regular use. The pads are also discrete and come in 2 muted colours.
This kit is a confidence booster packed with 6 reusable pads meant to last during a monthly cycle. We recognize the need to offer an all-inclusive package for every girl and this package delivers.
For many rural communities in East Africa, menstrual health management is still considered a taboo topic. An assortment of factors such as lack of awareness of the topic, backdated cultural practices, and the use of less efficient substitutes and the quality of life reduces dramatically making a lack of proper MHM as one of the leading causes of school absence and dropouts among young girls with up to 3 out of every 5 girls not attending school when it’s that time of the month.
Over the course of its establishment, together for better has provided over 121,000 reusable sanitary pads to more than 20,000 girls and young women throughout Kenya. In addition, the foundation has gone further to create a training program that has provided a source of income and regular work to the communities we work in.
